Know The Temperament of Rottweiler Dog
Having a new pet in the family is amazing; it is like having a new member. However, one should also keep in mind that they would require the same amount of love and care that you give to your family member. There can be nothing worse than bringing in a pet and then abandoning it just because you feel that it is not like what you thought or you do not like it anymore. Hence, if you are thinking of bringing a Rottweiler dog, you should have a brief overview about Rottweiler behavior so that you know what you are bringing.
An Overview About Rottweiler Temperament
- Rottweilers are fiercely loyal. That is the first thing that can be said about them. They are so loyal that they will protect the master and his family and property by even risking his life if the situation arises. Hence, there is a tinge of aggressiveness in them that has to be trained. They will not come and bite a stronger but they will growl for long till the owners are alerted. Hence training should be started early to get them to recognize the important family members.
- Another thing that can be said about Rottweiler temperament is that they were traditionally meant as hunting/herding and protection dogs and even today, Rottweilers are frequently seen in farms and ranches as guard dogs and hunting partners. They like to romp and run around and so avoid getting a Rottweiler if you are going to keep him in all day in a modern city apartment where there is hardly enough room for him to even walk around.

- Rottweiler dogs, as hunting dogs, have a consistency of eating raw diet. Technically speaking, all dogs should be fed raw diet, but the Rottweiler requires more so because of their build. The digestive system of the dog is not as same as that of humans and so even if you give them cooked food in adequate amounts, the same that is cooked for the rest of the family, even then they might not get the full nutrition. Some families are squeamish about brining raw meat and bone (bone sup[plies Calcium in a form much better than supplements) to the house and so you should think about this beforehand. Try to give your Rottweiler raw diet at least once in a day.
By keeping these points in mind, you will be able to decide where bringing a Rottweiler would be the right pet for your family.
